This historic coastal artillery site used to be above the beach in WWII. The rising sea has overcome the site. It’s often below water and sometimes not even visible at low tide, buried beneath the sand. In fact, there’s two artillery rings near each other, but today, the other one was below the sand and cobblestones. The morning fog and low clouds typical along the beach in Southern California during late spring and early summer ultimately burn off later in the day. I love the cool beach temperatures as well as the drama in the sky as the roiling mist evaporates from the penetrating sun.
